Note: Unless otherwise specified, the standards/Code noted are the most current versions in effect.
Single Family Dwellings, Comprised of Single Modules in Single Storey
All markings must be permanent and visible after installation.
The QAI label (item 1067, black with gold, 3-1/2” diameter) is normally located in close proximity to the electrical panel and includes:
− Certification label serial number
− QAI certification logo with the “C” Identifier
− “Modular Homes”
The specification nameplate (item 1068, 8-1/2” x 14” size) is located in close proximity to the electrical panel and includes:
− Manufacturer’s Name and Address
− Date of Manufacture
− Model Serial Number or Product Code
− Foundation Type (Perimeter Foundation Wall or Piers)
− Floor live Load
− Specified Snow Load (1/50)
− Seismic Response Sa (0.2)
− Hourly Wind Pressure (1/50)
− Envelope Effective Thermal Resistance
− Windows/Doors/Skylights Thermal Characteristics
− Outside Design Temperature (Heal Loss or Heat Gain)
− Factory Installed Appliances
− Site Installed Components, Assemblies, and Systems
− Electrical Systems Voltage, Frequency, and Amperage
The QAI label and specification nameplate are available from QAI and must be applied at the factory.
Single Family Dwellings, Comprised of Single Modules in Single Storey Configurations.
Residential buildings are designed and constructed within the limitations of Alberta Building Code Part 9. This certification service applies to the construction of detached and semi-detached houses together with their ancillary private storage garages, provide such houses:
a) have no shared egress facilities;
b) have no dwelling unit above or below them;
c) have no shared service spaces such as attics, crawl spaces,
service shafts or service rooms;
d) are self-contained with respect to heating and ventilation; and
e) have a building area not greater than 600 m2, and building
height not more than one storey.
1. This This certification service does not include day care facilities,
commercial/industrial units, apartment buildings, hotels, motels or
detention occupancy buildings.

connection to services must be finished on site as specified in the
electrical and building permits and are subject to inspection by
the local authorities having jurisdiction.
4. When welded steel structures form part of the structures of these buildings; the manufacturer will be required to obtain certification
from the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) to the requirements
of CSA W47.1 standard

Heating and Ventilation:
Gas installation was not evaluated as part of the QAI certification. If Gas is to be added in the future, the manufacturer shall contact QAI to evaluate and authorize Gas Systems.
Conventional Drainage and Vent Systems to a Maximum of 240 Hydraulic Fixture Units.
