All electrical and similar consumer or commercial products sold in Canada are required to be certified by a Certification Body accredited by the Standards Council of Canada.
Products that are shipped to Canada without certification, or products that are intended to have limited production runs may be inspected by an appropriate agency in accordance with Canadian Model Code SPE-1000.
Electrical equipment tested in accordance to this Model Code is intended to be conducted by an inspection body accredited by Standards Council of Canada (SCC).
Inspection body accreditation is the process of assessing and publicly recognizing the integrity, reliability, and technical competence of an organization’s inspection services.
Accreditation from the SCC for SPE-1000 means QAI can test and label and that we conform to an accepted set of standard requirements.
Special Inspections provides a means for evaluating electrical equipment and, if found to conform to the requirements of this Model Code the equipment can be marked with a Special Inspection label.
