Business Commercial Industrial Structures

All markings must be permanent and visible after installation.
1. The QAI label (item 1096 – black lettering with silver background) is normally located in close proximity to the electrical panel and includes:
a) Certification label serial number
b) The wording “Business Commercial Industrial Structures”
c) QAI logo shown here:

2. The CSA A277 specification nameplate (item 1068, 8-1/2” x 14” size) is normally located in close proximity to the electrical panel and includes:
a) Manufacturer’s name or trademark
b) Date of manufacture
c) Model name or project code
d) Foundation type (perimeter foundation wall or pier)
e) Floor live load
f) Specified snow load (1/50)
g) Seismic response Sa (0.2)
h) Hourly wind pressure (1/50)
i) Building envelope effective thermal resistance
j) Windows/doors/skylights thermal characteristics
k) Outside design temperature (heat loss/heat gain)
l) Factory installed appliances
m) Site installed components, assemblies, and systems
n) Electrical system voltage, frequency, and amperage
o) Code(s) and standard(s) with edition date or version in which the structures have been constructed to

3. Other markings as required by the relevant code.

The scope of buildings covered by this Listing includes:

Buildings:
Business Commercial Industrial Structures constructed within the limitations of Parts 4, 5 and 9 of the National Building Code, National Building Code (Alberta Edition) and BC Building Code.

The listing applies to structures intended for a single Major Occupancy classified as:
• Group F, Division 2 – Medium-Hazard Industrial or
• Group F, Division 3 – Low-Hazard Industrial.

Buildings covered under this scope consist of single modules in single storey configurations, with building area not exceeding 600m2.

These structures are typically used to house power generation systems, electrical control equipment, or other mechanical installations for industrial operations.

The listing does not include structures intended for sleeping accommodations, construction camps, dining trailers, washcars, office spaces, storage units, or other residential or commercial occupancies, nor any building designed for multiple major occupancies; these structures are also not intended for general public access, not designed for daily or full-time occupancy, and not intended to be conditioned spaces.

Structural:
Light steel frame structure built on a steel base frame. The steel building shall be manufactured by companies certified in accordance with CSA A660, Certification of Manufacturers of Steel Building Systems. All welding shall be performed in a shop by a third-party company certified to CSA W47.1, Certification of Companies for Fusion Welding of Steel.
