Prefabricated Modules containing mechanical and electrical core of dwelling units

All markings must be permanent and visible after installation.
1. Each module is marked with the QAI label (item 1066, black with white, 4” x 3-3/8” size) normally located in close proximity to the electrical panel and includes:
– Manufacturer’s name
– “Prefabricated Module”
– Module Serial Number
– Reference to the specification nameplate
– Certification label serial number
– QAI certification logo with the “C” Identifier shown below:2. The specification nameplate (item 1068, 8-1/2” x 14” in size) is normally located in close proximity to the electrical panel and includes:
– Manufacturer’s Name and Address
– Date of Manufacture
– Model Serial Number or Product Code
– Foundation Type (Perimeter Foundation Wall or Piers)
– Factory Installed Appliances
– Site Installed Components, Assemblies, and Systems
– Electrical Systems Voltage, Frequency, and Amperage3. Other Markings as required by the relevant codes.
Note 3: The QAI label and specification nameplate are available from QAI and must be applied at the factory.

Prefabricated modules intended to be permanently installed inside structures classified under one major occupancy Group C – Residential. These modules are components of hybrid buildings (integrating PODs within a site or factory built structures) that are not more than 3-storeys high and have a building area not exceeding 600m2.
The current listing covers the factory-built volumetric construction built in compliance with Part 9 of the Quebec Construction Code, Chapter I – Building. The modules are designed to be installed on-site as a complete unit “POD” to provide the mechanical and electrical core of dwelling units. It includes equipment and basic fixtures for kitchens, bathrooms, and/or laundry rooms.
All architectural, structural, mechanical, and/or electrical design aspects of these PODs defined outside of Part 9 of the building code, require review and approval by professionals registered in the province where the modules are intended to be installed.
Structural:
Conventional Wood Frame Construction within the limitations of Part 9 of the Quebec Construction Code, Chapter I – Building. Structural design covers only non-load bearing partitions and ceiling.Electrical Ratings:
120/240V, 60Hz, 200A Max. The distribution panel serves both POD and the remainder of the floor built on site.Heating/Ventilation:
Air exchanger serving the entire dwelling unit. The POD may be equipped with forced air heaters.Plumbing:
Conventional drainage and venting systems to a maximum of 240 hydraulic fixture units.Gas Systems:
None.Fire Alarm and Sprinkler Systems:

Products included in this listing are manufactured at a central facility and transported to the site. These prefabricated modules include provisions for on-site interconnections, connection to municipal services water and sewage, and electrical power supply. QAI certification covers the construction of the structures including any factory installed plumbing and electrical service, equipment and fixtures. QAI certification is intended to obviate the necessity of further inspection by the local regulatory authorities except for site connections to services or to other components and for site installed features.Site installation of products must be done according to manufacturer’s installation instructions and in compliance with the requirements set by the local authority having jurisdiction.
