MrPEX PEX-a Potable pipes with fittings in the following options:
MrPEX PEX-a Potable (natural, red, white, and blue colors). -
All PEX tubing, connectors, fittings, and other accessories (if sufficient space available) shall be permanently marked with the following content applied to an area that is readily visible after installation:
a) Manufacturer’s name or trademark
b) Model designation
c) Nominal Pipe Size
d) Manufacturer’s traceability code.
e) QAI file Number: P374
f) ASTM E84 / CAN/ULC S102.2 Ratings (FSI ≤ 25 / SDI ≤ 50)

The following outlines the performance of MrPEX PEX-a Potable products in accordance with the noted standards.
ASTM E84 – Surface Burning Characteristics
Products Limitations Flame Spread Index (FSI) Smoke Developed Index (SDI) MrPEX PEX-a Potable (red, white, blue, natural1)3 Up to 2 inch (51 mm) nominal diameter pipes and accessories installed with ½-inch (13 mm) pipe insulation2; no spacing requirements between adjacent runs of tubing. ≤ 25 ≤ 50 MrPEX PEX-a Potable (natural)3 2 inch (51 mm) nominal diameter pipe supported continuously with 20-gauge pipe supports covering minimum half exposed pipe area. MrPEX PEX-a Potable pipe exposed between pipe supports requires encasing with ½ inch (13 mm) approved pipe insulations2.
Piping is to be clamped with standard support clamps following installation instructions.≤ 25 ≤ 50 Note 1: Different sizes corresponding to different colors of MrPEX PEX-a Potable are dependent on manufacturers availability.
Note 2: List of approved pipe insulation for use with MrPEX PEX-a Potable products are outlined below.
Note 3: QAI’s certification only applies to the flame spread ratings.

Products Limitations Flame Spread Index (FSI) Smoke Developed Index (SDI) MrPEX PEX-a Potable (red, white, blue, natural1) Up to 2 inch (51 mm) nominal diameter tubing product and accessories installed with rated ½ inch (13 mm) pipe insulation2; no spacing requirements between adjacent runs of tubing. ≤ 25 ≤ 50 MrPEX PEX-a Potable (natural) Up to 1-1/2 inch (38 mm) nominal diameter piping water filled pipe. There are no spacing requirements between adjacent runs of this pipe assembly.
Optional: Pipe insulation can be installed maintaining the ratings noted2.≤ 25 ≤ 50 The following list of insulation types (at minimum thickness of ½ inch (13 mm) are approved for use with Safelink Systems Inc. MrPEX PEX-a Potable piping and accessories products at the maximum sizes outlined in the tables above.
