OUR FASTENER TESTING CAPABILITIES INCLUDE:

• METALLURGICAL TESTING to examine microstructure, grain size and grain flow, hardness and microhardness, case depth, plating thickness, thread examination, contamination, surface discontinuities, carburization and decarburization, folds, inter-granular oxidation (IGO), hydrogen embrittlement, alpha case, and more.
• MECHANICAL TESTING to determine material strength and other important properties through wedge and axial tensile testing, torque testing, proof load, yield strength and elongation, clamp load analysis, shear testing (single and double), stress rupture, creep, compression, tension fatigue, and more.
• CHEMICAL ANALYSIS to identify the chemical composition of metals and alloys. Tests include Optical Emission Spectroscopy (OES), FTIR analysis, Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS), Carbon Sulfur combustion determination, and trace metal analysis.
• MAGNETIC PARTICLE INSPECTION (MPI) and other Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), including Liquid Dye Penetrant (LDP), ultrasound, and X-ray inspection (radiography).
• SALT FOG CHAMBER to determine how fasteners will stand up to the elements. Tests include salt spray / salt fog testing, humidity testing, high and low temperature testing, chemical exposure testing, and other environmental custom type testing.
• Finally, our FAILURE ANALYSIS team can help you determine the root cause of failed fasteners, washers or other components with full documentation and reporting.
