British Columbia Code Update

The 2018 edition of the British Columbia Building Code, BC Plumbing Code and the BC Fire Code came into effect on December 10, 2018

The 2018 BC Codes were established by adopting the 2015 National Codes and adding BC’s existing requirements. The 2018 BC Codes will apply to building permits applied on or after December 10, 2018. The key changes include:

Accessibility
Asbestos
Area Calculation of Exposing Building Face
Energy Efficiency Standards
Exit Signs
Stairs, Ramps, Handrails
Fenestration
Mid-Rise Combustible Construction
Water Efficiency of Plumbing Fixtures
