OSHA grants QAI Laboratories recognition as Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL)

Coquitlam, BC, Canada QAI Laboratories (QAI), a front runner in global testing, inspection and certification of consumer electronics and building products has gained recognition by OSHA as a NRTL for Luminaires (UL 1598) and Fire Tests of Door Assemblies (UL 10B & 10C). This is the first step in QAI’s acceptance by OSHA, with plans to further expand their scope of recognized tests in order to support client demands.

What is a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) Program?

Federal regulation 29 CFR 1910.7 requires all products used in the United States workplace to be certified by an NRTL, recognized by the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA). QAI is the 16^th company to obtain this prestigious designation in the US and the first in the last 3 years. This recognition will allow the addition of a QAI NRTL mark, bolstering QAI’s current family of quality marks. Thus, ‘Users of the product can rely on the mark as evidence that the product complies with the applicable OSHA approval requirement(s) and is safe for use in the workplace.’¹

QAI’s already has a healthy Electrical Certification business in Canada with Laboratories in Vancouver and Toronto and operates four additional laboratories across the United States, located in the Washington D.C., Tulsa, and Los Angeles and Seattle areas. In addition, QAI has two Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) labs in Vancouver, BC and Seattle, WA.
