QAI Laboratories and the Korea Testing & Research Institute (KTR) are pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen cooperation in supporting manufacturers with efficient and reliable market access worldwide. This agreement reflects a shared commitment to delivering high-quality, timely, and accessible testing and certification services across borders.
The MOU outlines several key areas of collaboration:
-
Mutual Recognition of Test Reports for faster approval across borders: Facilitating the acceptance of test data for Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) certifications, helping reduce redundancy and accelerate market entry.
- Sector-Specific Cooperation: Cooperating and sharing information in several sectors including building materials, electrical safety, automotive, and machinery to support innovation and compliance.
-
Support for Korean SMEs: Creating tailored pathways for field evaluation, labeling, and certification services to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) expand into North American markets.
The MOU signing took place on August 7, 2025, at QAI’s Burnaby office in British Columbia, Canada. Representing QAI were Kent Adamson, President; Matt Lansdowne, Vice President of Certification and Engineering; Kevin Tsumura, Director of Corporate Growth and Operations Manager; and Daniel Lee, EMC Department Manager. The KTR delegation was led by Kim Hyun Cheol, President of KTR; Jeong Chang Seok, General Director of Global Business Division; Kim Tae Gun, General Manager Secretary Department; and Jeon Jin Wan, Global Strategy Department Researcher.
Following the signing, the QAI team hosted a guided tour of its Burnaby facility for the KTR delegation, highlighting QAI’s capabilities in testing, certification, and engineering services.
Through this partnership, QAI and KTR will provide manufacturers with access to trusted certification marks, such as the KC mark for Korea and QAI marks for the USA and Canada, along with localized factory inspections and technical expertise. Together, the organizations aim to help clients navigate complex regulatory landscapes and bring compliant products to market more efficiently.
