What is SEMI Evaluation?

SEMI (Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International) is a global industry association of companies that provide equipment, materials and services for the manufacture of semiconductors, photovoltaic panels, LED and flat panel displays, printed and flexible electronics, and related micro and nano-technologies.

As a collective group, the SEMI association develops and publishes standards for the evaluation of manufacturing devices used in the production of the technologies listed above. SEMI does not operate the system for certification of equipment to the SEMI standards and the SEMI standards are not required by regulation. However, compliance with SEMI standards is typically required by the semiconductor manufacturer and for this reason it is powerful to have the manufacturing equipment evaluated and verified as per SEMI standards by an independent third-party agency such as QAI.
