Certification of gas products involves testing and evaluation to the applicable gas standard(s). These standards are developed by technical committees to ensure that gas products meet minimum safety requirements for Canadian and US consumers. Once products are certified, they may be sold in Canada and the US where the standard(s) are being enforced.

How to Receive Certification
Receiving certification with QAI involves 4 major steps:
- Step 1 – QAI evaluates your product to the applicable gas standard(s). This involves construction evaluation and performance testing such as combustion test, burner and pilot operating characteristics, temperature test, efficiency calculations and etc. QAI will need the sample appliance, design drawings and critical component information.
- Step 2 – QAI performs inspection(s) at the manufacturing facility and review the quality system implemented by the manufacturer.
- Step 3 – Test report and certification documentation are issued by QAI
- Step 4 – If the product meets the minimum requirements of the applicable gas standard(s), QAI will label your product(s) to show compliance to the safety authorities.

All gas products require safety testing to satisfy safety authority bodies. Certification is a way to show the local safety authorities that your product has met the minimum safety requirements.
QAI supports manufacturers of hearth product, BBQ and gas food service equipment in getting their products certified to the appropriate safety and energy efficiency standards in the US and Canada.
QAI also offers Carbon Footprint Product Certification which allows manufacturers verify compliance to necessary environmental legislation.
