Most of the consumer and retail products are tested to generic standards for emissions and immunity. For the US and Canadian markets, most consumer and retail products meet emissions measurements along with any relevant safety or consumer product standard before the product is placed on the market. For the European market both the immunity and the emissions are required as outlined in the Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive. QAI’s knowledgeable engineers will help you navigate the path to compliance in an efficient and friendly manner so you can get your product to market as quickly as possible.
Electromagnetic Emissions
Electromagnetic Emissions relates to the radio frequencies emitted from the electrical/electronic devices during normal operations. These electromagnetic waves can interfere with the normal operation of other electronic equipment. Each product has specific frequency ranges allowed to transmit these emissions. The frequency ranges have been determined by the type of product and by the regulatory authorities of countries throughout the world. With the proliferation of electronic devices, there are many standards covering a range of products for the radiated & conducted emissions requirements.
Electromagnetic Immunity
Electromagnetic Immunity relates to the product’s ability to withstand specific levels of external electromagnetic interference in the air, or through AC mains. With the proliferation of electronic devices, there are many standards coverings a range of products for immunity issues including Electrostatic Discharge (ESD), Radiated Electromagnetic Field Immunity, Electrical Transient/Burst Immunity, Surge Immunity, and Immunity to Conducted Disturbances.
