QAI is a Certification Body (CB)

QAI is a Certification Body (CB) designated by Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED) to certify wireless products for the Canadian Market. Radio Equipment intended to be marketed and sold in Canada is required to be compliant with ISED requirements prior to entry to the marketplace. The product must be tested in an ISED listed test laboratory which is ISO 17025 accredited.

If you are a start-up, design team, manufacturer or an importer, you can follow our three-step guide to launch your radio equipment to the Canadian market:

1. Testing of radio equipment in an ISO 17025 testing accredited laboratory.

• • QAI or any ISO 17025 accredited testing laboratory can perform the testing, but the laboratory must be registered with ISED.

2. Marking of the radio equipment with key information such as labelling, is outlined below. Use the links at the end of the guide for detailed information:

• • RSP-100 outlines all required certification processes in Canada.
  • Apply for a 5-digit Company Number (CN).
  • Prepare a Unique Product Number (UPN).
  • The certification label IC ID Number is a mark consisting of Company Number (CN) and the Unique Product Number (UPN).
  • The Hardware Version Identification Number (HVIN) is a mandatory on the label.
  • Canadian representative is required.
